About

Christian Science

Christian Science is a worldwide religion, founded in the US by Mary Baker Eddy in the late 1800s. The Bible, especially Jesus' life, example and healings, sets the foundation for the teachings and practice of Christian Science. Its teachings instruct all of us as to how we can experience healing and regeneration in our lives.

The rich lives of the patriarchs and the prophets, as well as those of Jesus and his followers, are inspiring and meaningful examples of God’s power to meet every human need today, as it did centuries ago.

Mary Baker Eddy

Mary Baker Eddy is the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and the author of the foundational work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. A lifelong Bible scholar, she spent many years in youth and adulthood struggling with ill health, loss, financial hardship searching for relief and cure.

In 1866, she experienced a life-saving healing from reading the Bible. In her words, “I then withdrew from society about three years to ponder my mission, to search the Scriptures. [The Bible] answered my questions as to how I was healed.”

In 1875 Mary Baker Eddy published the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and founded the world wide church in 1879 to reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.
